ACC Command Chaplain Visits Shaw AFB (3)
Col. Scott Ofsdahl, Command Chaplain, Headquarters Air Combat Command visited Team Shaw, Sept. 6. Ofsdahl toured Shaw, visiting several Airmen around the base and getting a feel for each units operation tempo and mission. You can read the entire AF news story HERE. -
WSA Onsite (50)
On 30 August and due to Tropical Storm rains the offsite planned for Wateree was pulled close on base to the Chapel Annex. Although there wasn't activities the food and comraderie was good before a four day labor day weekend! -

Wounded Warrior Inspires Shaw ALS (6)
U.S. Air Force Airmen listen as retired U.S. Army Sgt. Scott Stephenson and his mother Luana Schneider speak at the airman leadership school, Shaw Air Force Base, S.C. Aug. 29, 2012. Stephenson talked to the future leaders about his experience of being injured while on a deployment in Iraq, and the resiliency he practices in his life to stay positive while living with his scars. Chaplain Mims Retirement (131)
On 29 August Chaplain Mims retired after 22 years of faithful service to the USAF and Chaplain Corps. -
SSgt Woods Going Away (8)
On 30 August 2012, the Chapel staff gathered together for a "Catfish Friday" to celebrate SSgt Woods service to the USAF and Chaplain Corps. She will be missed. -
Deployed Family Dinner (13 August 2012) (31)

More than 200 family members of deployed personnel attended the monthly Deployed Family Dinnner sponsored by the Shaw Air Force Base Chapel, Air Force Chaplain Corps held at the Carolina Skies Club on Aug. 13, 2012. Members of the Reid Chapel African Methodist Episcopal Church provided the meal. -
Chapel Cook Out Going Away (5)
On August 10th the chapel took a couple of hours to honor our Chaplain Candidate First Lieutenant Newkirk on the completion of her tour with us. There was food, fun and rain showers! -

Chaplain Knight's Promotion (16)
On 29 June Chaplain Knight was promoted to Major! There was a prayer service in the sanctuary of Palmetto Chapel honoring this day! -

Religious Support Team Unit Visitation (8)
Chapel staff offer freeze pops and speak with Frank Shaw, 20th Civil Engineer Squadron electronic industrial controls mechanic, as they get to know members of Team Shaw at Shaw Air Force Base, S.C., July 16, 2012 . Combining three chapel services into one will give the chapel staff more time for contact ministry like this throughout the base. Dorm Resident Pool Party (17 July 2012) (27)
On 17 July 60 dorm residents met at the woodland pool. There were some prizes handed out and games played. Although thunder ended the event prematurely it was a still good time had by all! -
Chapel Singles Food Pantry Drive (4)
A ton of items were collected May-June across all of Shaw. The donations went to Dixie Anna Baptist Church in South Carolina! -

Burrito Blitz (3)
Shaw Chapel spearheaded a burrito blitz with the assistance of the school liason officer, Mr. Kennedy. The chapel handed out over 110 breakfast burritos to school teachers and faculty on Shaw AFB. -
Clergy Day (17 May 2012) (12)
32 of the local clergy met at the Carolina Skies Club & Conference Center to discuss an integrated approach to ministry of service members. An AF news story was produced on the event and that can be found HERE. -

SSgt Jamyal D. Lett has been an invaluable team contributor since his recent PCS from Barksdale AFB, LA. His ability to create and implement systems that have connected the Chapel community was the key to his recent selection as Spotlight Airman.
